Leicester’s very own Ironman, Manjit Singh lifted 85 kg with his one ear on Wednesday 12th December at Sabras Radio. It took place on 12/12/12 at 12pm.
The record is subject to approval by Guinness Book of World Records.
This event is also in aid to support the local charity LOROS.
18th November 12 - Binoy and Susheela from Star Plus @ Sabras Radio
Binoy (Jimit Trivedi) & Susheela (Pariva Pranati) actors from the hit Star Plus serial Ek Doosre Se Karte Hain Pyaar Hum dropped into the Sabras Radio studios to chat to Rishi Modi about their involvement with the Golden Mile Experience here in Leicester, and life on the popular serial.
They also picked out the lucky winners who entered the Golden Mile Experience competition.

17th November 12 - Diwalia Hangama @ Curve Theatre, Leicester
Sabras Radio, in association with the Curve Theatre, put on another big Diwali spectacular - this time the stage was a permanent one indoors!
Dancers and singers, including Navin Kundra, entertained a large crowd, with a themed buffet for refreshment.

13th November 12 - Diwali Night Show @ Belgrave Road
To celebrate Diwali, Sabras Radio opened its doors to the public during the day. Then put a stage up with some great entertainment as night fell, little over a week after the last roadshow!
Presenters including Kash Kumar, Raj Baddhan, Rishi Modi, Tina Kaur and Missy B - hosted performances from Iffy K, Rana Sohata, Amrita & Avinash and Gemma K & the gang. See the photos below, and the highlights video:
25th August 12 - Miss Pooja with Jagdeep @ Sabras Radio
Punjabi sensation Miss Pooja popped into Sabras Radio on Saturday 25th August to talk to Jagdeep on Punjabi Sabras.

15th April 12 - Asian Wedding Showcase @ Marriott Hotel, Leicester
Sabras Radio was the media partner for this event, in association with Sanjay Foods and the Marriott Hotel, Leicester. Visitors got a taste of wedding dresses, unique services and products for the runup to and on the day of their celebrations, and samples of the catering available from Sanjay Foods (both to look at, and to eat!). Karan Pangoli starred in the programme on Star Plus' Just Dance. He was in the top 10 of the programme and the only one selected from the UK to represent Bollywood Dance.
Karan was in Leicester for Diwali and was on Belgrave Road for the day. He came in to speak to Raj Baddhan on Drivetime.
To celebrate the switchon of the Diwali lights on Leicester's Golden Mile, Sabras Radio put on a rather large roadshow. Full of live entertainment, giveaways and competitions hosted by our own presenters. Listeners who weren't able to make it were able to listen as a live broadcast took place on 1260AM, DAB Digital and online worldwide!

Sabras Radio took to the stage for the Leicester Belgrave Melas 25th Anniversary show, from 5-6pm. With local acts joining some of your favourite Sabras Radio DJs, the show was closed in style.

On Monday 28th March 2011 Bollywood icon, Juhi Chawla visited Midland's popular radio station, Sabras Radio. She was interviewed live on air by Raj Baddhan, on Drivetime before attending an invite-only public Q&A session at the Peepul Centre.
Her trip to the UK coincides with the release of her new film 'I Am', which opens up as a part of the London Asian Film Festival.
The film is a tale of four stories woven together that takes audiences through issues and dilemmas that bruise the modern Indian society.
'I Am' will be opening up nationally on Friday 22nd April.

18th July 10 - Leicester Belgrave Mela @ Leicester City Centre
The yearly Leicester Belgrave Mela setup shop for this summer's festivities. Again, the main event was staged on a packed out Humberstone Gate with a mix of entertainments.
Sabras Radio's elite street team of Akshay, El Vishio and Niraj took control for the latter part of the day to the delight of several thousand fans. Below are some highlights of the Sabras Hour:
17th April 10 - Sabras Vaisakhi Celebrations 2010 @ Sabras Radio
To celebrate the festival of Vaisakhi, Sabras Radio hosted an open day at Radio House. Hosted by Tony Bains and Jagdeep, the main event was a 4 hour show conducted live from our Foyer with a plethora of singers accompanied by a live band. Bollywood dancers also featured, as well as food and liquid refreshments - check out the pictures to see what happened!
21st October 09 - The Blessing of Ganesh @ Twycross Zoo
Ganesh is the first elephant calf born at Twycross Zoo by Artificial Insemination (A.I.), and was formally named and blessed for good health during a traditional Hindu ceremony. This was carried out by a Brahmin Shree Mahendra Pandya, from Leicester, on 21st October 2009.
The ten week old Asian elephant calf was named Ganesh by Nadhini and Ria, winners of our "name the baby elephant" competition - congratulations to you both!
His keepers gave him his second name Vijay (meaning victory).

In order to win Kareena Kapoor's belt she wore whilst filming Billu Barber, we invited Sabras listeners to plait Alpa's hair live on air. The competitors were wittled down by Trish from our sales team, who from the finalists chose Heena as our winner (shown in the last picture with her prize in the last picture).
