Local commercial radio stations in the UK have to follow a set of requirements in respect of its local programming, music allocation and speech levels including news. These are set in a station ‘Format’, which is a document issued by media regulator Ofcom.

Sabras Radio keeps you up to date with breaking news as it happens round the clock on our AM broadcast, for those listening to us on DAB multiplexes and on the Internet.
National news bulletins from Sky News London are aired every hour between 6am and midnight daily. Local news coverage is provided in all peak time programmes on a daily basis. There are also news bulletins in the Mid-Morning Show at 11:40 (in Urdu) and 12:40 (in Hindi). These bulletins cover local, national and international news. A Gujarati and Punjabi news update is also provided each weeknight on our respective shows. Local news stories are featured in the Breakfast and Drivetime shows.
We break into normal programming to bring breaking news stories as they happen.

Speech content is an important element of Sabras Radio’s output. Our presenters deliver in clear user friendly style breaking news stories as they happen. AVERAGE AUTOMATED PROGRAMMING
Sabras Radio broadcasts 100% live programming during the hours of 06:00 – 00:00 (weekdays) and 07:00 – 00:00 (weekends). Between 00:00 and 04:00 (weekdays) and 07:00 (weekends) we are committed to bringing listeners uninterrupted commercial free music on automation. Between 04:00 and 07:00 daily we also broadcast religious programming to cater for the principal religious requirements of our target audience.
Sabras Radio’s output consists of 100% local programming. Our programmes are all broadcast from our studios based on Melton Road in Leicester. Sabras Radio is unequivocally committed to local programming to serve a very loyal and large listenership and as such, outstanding of programming has never been an option for us.

If you have a complaint about Sabras Radio, in the first instance you should contact our Programme Controller, Don Kotak, at the following address: 63 Melton Road, Leicester, LE4 6PN. Please mark the envelope with ‘Complaint’. If you are unhappy with the response you have received, you can complain directly to the regulator, Ofcom. EVENTS/CHARITIES SUPPORT OR COVERAGE
We support numerous local charities and non-profit making organisations through our day to day on air activities and special fund raising events when necessary. We report on local charity and religious events as part of our daily Events Diary in various programmes including Gujarati and Punjabi shows. Our religious programming is provided by local temples, gurudwaras and mosques which all use the platform to carry out a varied portfolio of charitable work.
One recent and highly successful feature of our charitable contribution led to the formation of the Sabras Radio Earthquake Relief Fund, which even today carries out much needed work in the stricken areas of Gujarat in India.

Sabras Radio’s playlist consists of music from the 50s to the present day. Music content is very important to our very music led station. A mixture of oldies, contemporary and various music genres is blended to cater for the various audience requirements during each weekday and at weekends. Music content parameters are set to reflect the audience profile, delivery style and language of each programme.
